A Year On Site: Dunsteel’s 2025 Project Highlights

When we look back on 2025, there’s a long list of projects, people and places that not only kept our team moving between workshop and site, but also defined our year.

For Dunsteel, this year meant being part of meaningful builds all across Australia, each with its own individual pace, pressures and most importantly: Purpose.

Infrastructure at Scale

Some projects carried real visibility and complexity. Working on Western Sydney International Airport meant precision at every stage. These were jobs where sequencing mattered and steel had to arrive exactly when needed.

At Sydney Airport, Dunsteel worked on the baggage handling infrastructure upgrades requiring constant coordination and working within the restricted access windows.

Community Spaces

Other projects reminded us that steel shapes spaces people use every day. Hornsby Park Lookout, Thurina Park Community Centre, Canterbury Leisure & Aquatic Centre, and North Sydney Olympic Pool all serve communities directly.

The Canterbury and North Sydney pool redevelopments stood out. These weren’t greenfield sites, but instead heritage facilities being transformed while preserving their identity, requiring steel that met modern performance standards while respecting the original structures.

Commercial Environments

Throughout 2025, we worked on major office fitouts and commercial developments. Aftarpay’s Sydney office, KPMG Sydney office, Lander & Rogers Sydney office, Atlassian Central, Stockland Macquarie Park, and Waterloo Metro Quarter.

Atlassian Central deserves mention as the world’s tallest hybrid timber building. Our structural steel package integrated with cross laminated timer from level seven upward, contributing to the project’s 50% reduction in embodied carbon.

Industrial & Retail

Industrial and infrastructure work continued throughout the year. A&I Coatings Warehouse and Rouse Hill Town Centre required durability and practical buildability. These projects don’t chase architectural awards, but they need steel designed for real use over multiple decades.

Health & Education

Healthcare and education brought another level of responsibility. Griffith Base Hospital, Shoalhaven Hospital, Cumberland High School & Carlingford West Public School, and Wollondilly Government Services Building all serve critical community needs.

Shoalhaven’s $438 million redevelopment included a seven storey acute services building, expanded emergency department and even a rooftop helipad. The school projects replaced over 130 aging demountables with permanent facilities. These are all buildings that truly matter.

The Process Behind the Projects

Across every project, the fundamentals stayed consistent. Detailed fabrication in the workshop. Thoughtful sequencing before steel reached site. Close collaboration with builders.

There were many long days, and many early starts. There were plenty of moments where our experience made the difference between stopping and moving forward. These are all parts of construction that rarely make headlines, but they’re where reliable steel partners prove their value.

Moving Forward

By the end of 2025, what we’re most proud of isn’t our expanding project list but more so our consistency behind it. Showing up prepared, delivering what was promised and contributing to buildings that will stand and serve for many, many years to come.

As we move into 2026, we carry the lessons we learnt forward. We’ll encounter new sites and new challenges; all with the same commitment to doing things properly.

If you’re planning a project and want a steel partner who understands both the detail on the drawings and the reality on site, we’re always happy to have the conversation.
