Loftus Lane

As part of the Loftus Lane redevelopment in Sydney’s historic precinct, Dunsteel was engaged to deliver complex structural works within a heritage timber building.

The project required careful refurbishment to strengthen and adapt the original timber structure while respecting its historical character. Working within the constraints of an aged building fabric, Dunsteel provided precision steel interfaces and strengthening elements that seamlessly integrated with the heritage timber.

All works were carried out in a live city environment with tight access and heritage protections in place. This demanded meticulous planning, controlled installation methods, and a high degree of coordination with the project team to ensure compliance with both structural performance and conservation requirements.

The outcome is a revitalised heritage asset that maintains its architectural integrity while meeting modern structural and safety standards. Dunsteel’s contribution ensured the building could be preserved and reactivated as part of a broader precinct renewal, balancing respect for history with the needs of contemporary development.
